    Matt Stonecypher, DVM, Owner

Dr. Matt Stonecypher has been part of the Docton team since June of 2000. He completed his undergrad at Miami University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Botany. He went on to complete his DVM at Ohio State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000.

Dr. Bill hired Dr. Matt as a recent graduate with plenty to offer. He had a strong interest in feline medicine, ultrasound technology, and a continuing desire to learn. He was a key factor in introducing ultrasound technology to the Docton clientele. Over the years, he has also become known as our cat doctor, as he especially enjoys helping his feline patients and their families.

In 2007, Dr. Matt and Dr. Tina purchased the clinic. Together they have continued to improve Docton with a new computer operating system, new laboratory equipment, digital x-ray, new floors and multiple other improvements.

In his time away from work, he enjoys reading, gardening and cooking. He is also learning to home-brew beer. In addition to his wife and two daughters, he shares his home with his 2 cats, Frodo (aka Buddy), and Hazel and his lab/golden mix, Pearl.

  • Gretchen Gale, DVM

    Gretchen Gale, DVM

Dr. Gretchen Gale joined Docton Animal Clinic in November 1988. Dr. Bill had just purchased the practice in March of that year, and Dr. Gale was the first veterinarin he hired. We are so thankful that she came to us!

She graduated from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1984 and moved to Xenia in 1988 with her husband, Tim. Although she is not an Ohio native, she believes Greene County is a great place to live and raise a family. She and her husband have 3 sons. When she isn't busy with her family, she enjoys bike riding. Ada, pictured with Dr. Gale, is an Airedale Terrier and was Dr. Gale's favorite dog. She passed away last year at the age of 14.

Dr. Gale's favorite part of veterinary medicine is helping a pet throughout its life. She enjoys seeing a new puppy or kitten come in to be seen for its first exam and vaccines. She enjoys watching the puppy or kitten grow and then grow up. She also likes taking care of pets as they age, and helping their families adjust to life with an older pet.

  • Bill Imperial, DVM

    Bill Imperial, DVM

Dr. Bill has a rich history with Docton Animal Clinic*. After graduating from Bowling Green with a Bachelor's degree in 1973, then OSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 1978, he joined Dr. Frank Docton here in Xenia. In 1988, Dr. Bill purchased the clinic from "Doc", whom retired shortly thereafter.

Dr. Bill greatly enjoyed owning a business while helping pets. After 19 years of ownership, Dr. Bill sold the practice to Drs. Matt & Tina Stonecypher.
Dr. Bill's favorite part of veterinary medicine is the variety of cases he sees, as well as the challenge of surgery. Dr. Bill works Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Please call for an appointment if you would like to see him.

He now enjoys spending time with his grandchildren & "dating" his wife. He also likes to exercise and is active in his church. His favorite verse is Col. 2:8-10.

Although he only has "grandpets" now, he will never forget "Sophie" his Golden Retriever of 12 years or "Millie" his paralized dachshund of 16+ years.
Millie was an extra-special pet, because at 4 years old she ruptured a disc in her back. It was the worst rupture Dr. Bill had ever diagnosed. Millie was totally paralyzed in her back legs, but she was totally healthy otherwise. She had a great attitude, so Dr. Bill and his wife lovingly took care her. They even had a cart made so she could pull herself around. Twelve years and 14,000 diapers later, she passed away in her sleep. As Dr. Bill says, "What a dog that was!" Millie was the longest living paralyzed dog known to Docton Animal Clinic.

    Tama Cathers, MS, DVM

Although Dr. Tama Cathers is Docton's 'newest' veterinarian, joining the team in August 2007, she has been practicing veterinary medicine since 1996. She originally earned her Master of Science in Biology from The College of William & Mary (Williamsburg, Virginia) in 1991 and then her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1996 from North Carolina State University.

Early in her career she had the opportunity to serve as an intern providing care for wildlife, exotic and zoo animals at Kansas State University. She has also worked for several Dayton area veterinarians, both on a regular schedule at some clinics and filling in as a relief veterinarian as the need arose at other clinics.

Dr. Tama's favorite part of veterinary medicine is intacting with and educating clients. She especially likes it when clients are engaged in their pet's health and want to learn more about how they can help their pet live a long, healthy life.

In her free time, Dr. Tama enjoys parenting, martial arts, hiking, gardening and pottery. She resides in the Clifton area and is pictured with Grayson, her Samoyed, although she has various other creatures.
